The Department of Zoology is a constituent entity of faculty of science. Department of Zoology was established in the year 1996 to educate students belonging to rural areas. The department runs the Programme in Zoology at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Apart from the academics, the faculty from the department constantly keeps motivating students for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The teachers from the department are very keen on developing the overall personality of the students and therefore keep them engaged in various activities run by the department.
The department is enriched with rare collection of specimens in the museums, well equipped labs and departmental library. The department has qualified, experienced and highly motivated teachers involving themselves in teaching and extension activities. The department strives to promote overall development of students by inculcating a spirit of inquest, discipline and adventure through various academic and co-curricular activities. Department has Computer Networking and Internet facility. Our pedagogy focuses on basic and applied fields of Zoology assisted with demos, models, videos, etc.
The department is equipped with well-furnished UG and PG laboratories with advanced types of equipment for providing practical training to students. An LCD projector is available in our department to implement the modern teaching tools. All the staff members are effectively utilizing ICT tools for teaching. E-learning is encouraged for the students. The department is functioning successfully with 3 regular faculty, 4 C.H.B. lecturers and 1 lab assistant. The faculty members act as mentors, guiding students to develop practical skills and soft skills.
