About the College

Arts Commerce And Science College Palus founded in August 1992 is one of the premier colleges in Sangli district Permanently affiliated to Shivaji University Kolhapur and is recognized by UGC under 2 ( F ) 12 ( B ). The college is reaccredited in the third cycle during September 2018 with B + ( CGPA 2.63 ) grade by NAAC.Since its inception, it has been working with a motto “ Tamso Ma Jyotirgamaya” to provide quality higher education to rural students and empower them to cope up with the competitive world.

About the Department

The Department of Chemistry was established in 1995 with an intake of 20 students and has grown immensely during the last five years. Presently, the department is running B.Sc. and M.Sc. Organic Chemistry course commenced in June 2022 with a intake of 20 students. Along with post graduate course we are also conducting two Add-on courses in Chemistry. The number of Alumni of the department has crossed over 350 as on today. The objective of the department has been to train the students thoroughly in Organic chemistry. The Department of Chemistry is involved in both teaching and research. In teaching the Department is training the next generation students and enable them to lead the nation in chemistry. The training received by the students enabled them to achieve major positions in industries and research & academic institutions. The  Department also received funding from UGC by sanctioning seminar and minor projects to the faculty. The department has also signed MoU with local organizations. The Department has also produced distinguished Alumni. Presently about 30 Research Scholars are working in the various colleges as Assistant professor and research associates in industries. We try our best to impart the latest knowledge in the subject and highlight the current issues in Chemistry. We have Spacious laboratories well connected with LPG gas and water tap fittings, a Separate store room, and well equipped with Spectrophotometer, Colorimeter, Polarimeter, Nephlometer, Potentiometer, PH Meter, Conductivity meter, Analytical and digital balance, Heating furnace, One pan balance, Magnetic stirrer, Refractometer, Distillation Plant, Hot plate, UV Cabinet, Oven, Refrigerator, Vacuum Pump and Oven. The department is well connected with the Central library flourished with reference books, textbooks, and journals.
